Step 2: Attend the
Catholic Marriage Preparation Course

at least 6 months before wedding date
(do not register your marriage at JPN before attending CMPC)

The CMPC originated from the Evenings for the Engaged, a worldwide Catholic Marriage Preparation Programme of the Catholic Church. It is designed to prepare engaged couples for a lifetime commitment to love in the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Because of the sacredness and indissolubility of marriage, CMPC is compulsory for Catholics getting married in the Catholic Church (even when only one party is Catholic). It is not because the Church is making life difficult for you, but because the Church cares and desires you to savour the beauty and joy of matrimony, albeit spiced with difficulties now and then to help you grow.

The Course does not teach you how to budget or how to raise children (the Church has other formations for that) but focuses on building and nurturing a love relationship as husband and wife.

The CMPC team/teams will touch on different topics for this relational growth through some accepted concepts, interspersed with sharings of their life experiences. This will motivate engaged couples to reflect on their own love relationship, providing them with the option to decide how best they want to live out their commitment to each other in their future matrimonial life. Marriage is not all just about the couple but also about family, society and the Church.

“The future of humanity passes by way of the family.” (quote from “Familiaris Consortio”).
